“But the angel said to them, ‘Don’t be afraid, for look, I proclaim to you good news of great joy that will be for all the people: Today a Savior, who is Messiah the Lord, was born for you in the city of David.”  Luke 2:10-11

Oh, it is finally Christmas morning! Perhaps you are reading this with wrapping paper covering the floor and the joyous sounds of children laughing and playing in the background. This really is a magical morning! The first Christmas was a little different. As shepherds were going about their jobs on an average night, God intervened. He intervened by being born of virgin in a small, relatively insignificant town outside Jerusalem. God intervened, and the shepherds became very afraid. God instantly calmed them by giving them the greatest news anyone had ever heard. The long-awaited Savior had finally arrived! He was born without fanfare or parade. He was not in a palace and kept away from the people. He was there to save the people.

I don’t know what gifts you may have given or received. I don’t know if you are tired or excited. I do know that no matter who you are or what you have Christmas day brings us the news that God loves us that He became One of us that He would forgive us. Celebrate this day with great joy! It is because of the truth we celebrate this Christmas day that we can celebrate the truth of Easter. Celebrate. Celebrate loudly with raised hands and excited voices. Celebrate with a happy dance and tears of joy. Celebrate because God has brought us good news of great joy. Celebrate by telling someone about the love of Jesus Christ!

How would you have felt if you were one of those shepherds?

Who can you tell about the love of Jesus?
