“Therefore, since we also have such a large cloud of witnesses surrounding us, let us lay aside every weight and the sin that so easily ensnares us. Let us run with endurance the race that lies before us, keeping our eyes on Jesus, the source and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy that lay before Him endured a cross and despised the shame and has sat down at the right hand of God’s throne.”   Hebrews 12:1-2

The day after Christmas can sometimes be a bit disappointing. The presents have all been opened. The visiting family may be going home. The wonderful dinner of the day before has now become leftovers that we must do something with. It just seems that all too often we wake up on the day after Christmas and say, “Now what?” Certainly, we don’t say this out loud, but that is often what we feel. We have looked forward to Christmas day with such great anticipation, and now that day has passed. While we can be disappointed with the day after Christmas, when we truly understand the meaning of Christmas the day after Christmas becomes the beginning of an exciting journey.

God never meant for Christmas to be simply an event we celebrate. God made Christmas to change who we are every day of the year. At Christmas, God came down to earth so that we might live in relationship with Him. That relationship is made to grow deeper and more important every day of our lives. If you have a relationship with Jesus Christ, now is a perfect time to begin knowing Him better. Now is a perfect time to begin serving Him wholeheartedly. Now is a perfect time to begin worshipping Him with every aspect of your life. Now is the perfect time to begin. Beginning this journey is easy. Simply focus your eyes on Jesus and move toward Him. Focus your eyes on Him by studying the Bible. Focus your eyes on Him by worshipping with other believers. Focus your eyes on Him in prayer. Focus your eyes on Him by telling others about His love for them. Focus your eyes on Him by giving sacrificially of your time, talents, and finances. Don’t wait for another year to go by before you celebrate Christmas again. Begin celebrating Christmas right now by knowing, serving, and worshipping the Christ of Christmas!

How will you commit to know Jesus better this year?

How will you commit to serving Jesus more wholeheartedly this year?

How will you commit to worshipping Jesus with every aspect of your life this year?
