You are not an accident. God created you on purpose and for a purpose. The purpose for which God made you is much greater than your job, your talents, or your plan for your life. Please don't misunderstand. None of those things are bad, but they are a poor substitute for the purpose for which God made you.
God created you to live in eternal relationship with Him. The only problem is that each of us have messed up that relationship. We have all chosen to disobey God by doing the things He has told us not to do and by failing to do the good things He has called us to do. The Bible calls these acts of disobedience sin, and it is our sin that has broken our relationship with God and separates us from HIm.
Even though we broke our relationship, we can't fix it. Even if we could somehow be perfect from this day forward (spoiler alert: we really can't be perfect), we still cannot go back into the past and undue the disobedient choices we have made. This situation left us stuck. On one hand, God loves us and wants us to enjoy the relationship with Him for which we were made. On the other hand, God is perfect and holy so our disobedience demands punishment.
This is exactly why Jesus came. Jesus did what we could never do and lived in perfect obedience. When Jesus died on the cross He received the punishment that we deserved because of our disobedience so that we could receive what we could never deserve - forgiveness and a restored relationship with God. Jesus has paid the price for your disobedience. He has become the way to a restored relationship with God. However, you do not automatically receive this great gift - you have to ask for it.
God will never force Himself on anyone, but He extends an offer of love, forgiveness, restoration, hope, and relationship to you. But you must take the final step to receive this great gift by trusting in Jesus alone - not yourself, not being a good person, not doing good things. If you are ready to take that step and connect with Jesus, simply stop what you are doing and ask Him to come into your life. There are no magical words to say, and we promise He will completely understand you. If you're not sure where to begin, here is a starting point:
"Jesus, I know that I have disobeyed you. I know that I deserve your judgment. No matter what I do, I can never be worthy of your forgiveness. Jesus, I have been told that you can forgive me and make me whole again. Please forgive me and make me new. Please take control of my life so I can live in relationship with you. Thank you for your love and your sacrifice. In Jesus' name, amen."
