Operation Christmas Child

There is something almost magical about the moment when a child opens a gift. Her eyes light up. He squeals in excitement. For a moment in time, the hurts, worries, and disappointments of life somehow fade away. We know these images to be true in our lives, but how much more true and vivid would they be when the child opening a gift may have never before received a gift?

Operation Christmas Child is a ministry of Samaritan’s Purse and seeks to combine the beautiful simplicity of the great joy of a child opening a gift and the story of God’s relentless love for us to eternally change lives. You see, when we pack shoeboxes full of simple toys, gifts, and other items, Samaritan’s Purse takes our individual shoeboxes and combines them with countless other shoeboxes from other families. Then, Samaritan’s Purse distributes these shoeboxes and the gospel of Jesus Christ to boys and girls all over the world. Once in the hands of a child, the box you pack can become a tangible expression of God’s love in a way that we can scarcely imagine. God may very well use your box to change a child’s eternal home!

First Baptist has been involved in Operation Christmas Child for years and even serves as a regional drop-off location for other members of the community.
