On a dark night over two thousand years ago in the little town of Bethlehem, a young woman gave birth to an extraordinary child, and light burst into the world. Emmanuel – God with us – was no longer just a prophecy from generations ago. With the birth of Jesus, God was once again among humankind! The long-awaited Savior had finally come! Now there is hope for the hopeless! Peace with God is possible! God’s love had sent His Son into the world! Nothing can contain the joy of Emmanuel! The world was, indeed, a dark place, but its darkness could never overcome the light that Jesus brought into the world.
Today, this world remains a dark place, and Jesus remains the only light of the world. Every day we encounter people who live in the darkness. They live without hope, without peace, without experiencing God’s love, and without joy. They do not need the hottest gift of the season. They do not need our judgment or opinions. They desperately need to see the light. What if this Christmas season we shared the greatest gift we have received? What if this Christmas season we choose to share the light of Jesus that burns within us with the world around us? The world may be a dark place, but light always overcomes darkness.
This Advent, we invite you to join us as we seek to illuminate the darkness around us by sharing the light of Jesus this Christmas season. The celebration begins on Sunday, November 26 at 9:00 am!
